About
Welcome to “A Daily Record”! This site was initially made in an attempt to start a 365-day photoblog; unfortunately that did not come to fruition. Rather than delete the site, I have decided to just make it a photo blog that I can add to at my own pace without feeling guilty if I did not post a picture daily.
A little about me… My name is Jeremy Rutherford and I am an Internal Medicine specialist in Oklahoma. While I love medicine and am thankful that I get to do a job that makes me happy, photography has become a passion of mine. I started taking photos back in 2000 when I moved to Kenya to do research. I had no idea about how to take a good photograph so I purchased National Geographic’s book on photography and started shooting as soon as I landed in Nairobi. Photography took a bit of hiatus for me during medical school but I started to pick it up again in residency. However, it was not until I moved to Tulsa, and started practicing medicine, that I started to take photography really seriously.
Given the busy schedule that I have, I enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography’s Professional Photography course online. I learned quite a bit from them, but I think I have really developed my skills by trial and error and and reading everything I can about photography. I have used mostly digital cameras since becoming serious, but found my old Nikon FE2 in storage and started to take up film again. I learned how to develop my film at home and have been having a blast with this new skill.
Thank you again for visiting this site. I hope that you enjoy the photographs as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
